Increasing Productivity So That You Can Achieve More

office-620817_640It is a fact that every person is blessed, or cursed as it may be, with the same number of hours during the day. Surprisingly some people seem to have their schedules and timetables on lock, while the majority meddle about, failing to find a particular rhythm. In today’s routine, productivity is key, and without it, big dreams such as becoming financially independent, attaining success or even raising a family can become extremely difficult to achieve. There are however, a few tips that one can take advantage of in becoming more productive.

The first thing is preparation. More often than not, individuals only get to plan for the day, once the day has already started. This creates an unnecessary sense of urgency which can wreck havoc on your tempo. On the contrary, it is advisable to plan for your day in the previous evening. As one ends the day, there are very few tasks left to do. This leaves enough time to deeply think about what needs to be done and achieved on the next day. Lay out the different objectives, prioritizing those that are most important and / or urgent.

Having planned adequately, as the day starts, there is need to keep a finger on the time spent on each task. Because of the many distractions that we come across, for example, social media, email, video streaming and so forth, it is ultimately necessary to track and regulate the amount of time spent on each task. The average individual can only keep effective focus on a specific subject for between 25 and 30 minutes. Anything past that results in a wondering and at worst, idle mind.

As you get the different tasks out of the way and start to feel like a superhero, it is essential to fight off the urge to continue working. Taking regular breaks of 5 to 10 minutes in between tasks can help boost productivity dramatically. Even in instances where one is faced with rather long tasks, taking a break in the middle of the tasks helps to keep a steady flow of concentration and narrow one’s focus to the subject at hand.

Whatever the strategy taken, of significance is listening to one’s body. If you feel tired or your mind starts wandering,  take a break, smell a flower and get back to work.

Goal Setting And Why You Should Start

bulls-eye-1044725_640Life is a journey in which we all try to make the most of the time we are given. One thing everyone has in common is the desire to do well and achieve some measure of success. It is unfortunate that the path towards achieving these life objectives can be difficult to traverse. Making sense of it all can be a challenge but with an effective goal – setting regime, success can be a reality.

There are a number of benefits that can be gained from setting goals for yourself. To begin with, it gives a sense of focus. With so much noise around us, from social media to technology, it can be difficult to keep your mind on what you want to achieve. As such, by setting clear goals that have a timeline, an individual can keep sight of what is important in life.

When a person has clarity on their goals, there is a good chance that they will also use the resources available to them more efficiently. It is a harsh truth that there aren’t enough resources in the world to achieve all we want to get done. Even the time of day is limited. It is thus necessary for anyone to lay out objectives that result in the best usage of one’s time, money and other available resources as may be required.

Another remarkable benefit of goal – setting is the composure and peace that gradually develop within the individual. Because you know where you are going and what you intend on achieving anxiety and stress about the future tend to be lower. As you continue to complete your short and long term objectives, your self – esteem is subsequently elevated. This becomes a self – fulfilling prophecy in which the more you achieve, the better you feel and the more you can consequently achieve.

In all, as an individual adopts a disciplined and appropriate goal strategy, a clear decision – making process results. Because of this, one can be expected to lead a happier and more effective life.
